Positive Energy Districts for Amsterdam and Bilbao (ATELIER)

In ATELIER, the partners aim to create districts that produce more energy instead of consuming energy (so-called positive energy districts) in a total of eight European cities. This is achieved by implementing innovative solutions that integrate buildings with smart mobility and technologies to create rather than consume energy. In addition to the two lighthouse cities Amsterdam and Bilbao, the six Follower Cities Bratislava (Slovakia), Budapest (Hungary), Copenhagen (Denmark), Krakow (Poland), Matosinhos (Portugal) and Riga (Latvia) are involved. These cities will replicate and adapt the successfully implemented solutions and thus serve as test fields for future smart cities. In each of the overall eight cities a PED innovation atelier will be founded with the aim of strengthening the local innovation ecosystem and removing legal, financial or social obstacles to the implementation of intelligent solutions - always in cooperation with the citizens. The project is coordinated by the City of Amsterdam.

As a project partner, the SEZ supports the Dissemination and Communication of the project activities and outcomes with a project website, social media activities and other promotional materials, press releases, videos, web seminars, workshops, conferences, etc.. Furthermore the SEZ also supports the Exploitation of the project results, for market introduction and measures to stimulate imitation, support in the management of intellectual property as well as training on IPR, exploitation, risk assessment and business models.
