Cross-sector cooperation projects of SMEs in the building sector (METABUILDING)

The project will set up a marketplace in the form of a digital platform open to all stakeholders in the wider construction sector, providing innovation-related information and helping SMEs to find partners for collaborative projects and innovative technologies. The focus is on five industry sectors: construction, digital industry, additive manufacturing, nature-based solutions and circular economy & recycling. Synergies are to be created between these sectors. The platform will be closely linked to the European Construction Technology Platform (ECTP) and is expected to become a central tool for SME innovation and collaboration in Europe.

Another aim of the project is to support SMEs in their search for partners for cross-sector and cross-border cooperation projects and for innovative technologies for that they can apply for funding of up to 60,000 euros. Mainly, the project support is intended to be used for the further development of defined activities of SME cooperation projects from different sectors; but technical support from the consortium can also be requested. A total budget of 3.75 million euros is available for this.

The Steinbeis Europa Zentrum supports the project in the Steering Committee and as a "Business Provider". It leads the activities to expand the innovation ecosystem, which ensures the sustainability of the activities. In addition, it is SEZ responsible for the exploitation of the project results. For this purpose, a sustainability strategy is adapted to specific project results and the marketplace and enables direct addressing of users.
