Districts of CreativityBaden-Württemberg connects with international creative regions

Baden Württemberg has a strong and vivid creative industry. This proviceds the perfect basis to activly participate in the Districts of Creativity (DC) network.  

Founded in 2004, the DC-Network unites regions around the world, from the USA to China, from Scotland to India. It focusses on sharing and developing practices on stimulating cross-disciplinary creativity in society, to foster innovation and prosperity.  

The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism Baden-Württemberg is member of the network. Dr.-Ing. Petra Püchner, Commissioner for Europe of the Minister of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism Baden-Württemberg, Head of Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum coordinates as single point of contact the activites of the network in Baden-Württemberg. The organisation of activities and the contact maintenance lies in the responsibilites of the Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum. We use our expertise and organisational capabilities to ensure that the country regularly contributes with practical examples, organizational expertise and networking activities.

In recent years, Baden-Württemberg has presented itself in the network in various ways. 

Reverse Mission Baden-Württemberg | May, 20 - 23 2019 

In 2019 the Reverse Mission took place in Baden-Württemberg and the network visited Stuttgart, Mannheim & Heilbronn to gather creative impulses and to get to kown inspiring initaitves and projects. 

The „Reverse Mission“ ist hosted once a year by one of the network regions. More than 30 participants took part in the Reverse Mission Baden-Württemberg 2019 inkl. Flanders (Belgium), Aarhus (Demark), Tampere (Finland), North-Brabant (Netherlands), Scottland, Karnataka (India), Shanghai (China) und Oklahoma (USA). The inspiration tour was organised by the Steinbeis 2i GmbH and enabled by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism Baden-Württemberg. We visited the FRANKLIN Area and the C-Hub in Mannheim, the HLRS High Performance Computing Center & Media Solution Center in Stuttgart and we went to the BUGA and EXPERIMENTA in Heilbronn. 

Creativity World Forum | 2018 & 2019 

A Baden-Württemberg delegation was visiting the previous Creativity World Forum in Brabant (The Netherlands) and Flanders (Belgium).  

Eine baden-württembergische Delegation aus Kreativen besuchte die vergangenen Creativity World Foren. The participants consisted of multipliers, representatives from universities and creative companies. The delegation entered into an inspiring exchange with each other as well as with the creative people from the other regions. The Steinbeis Europa Zentrum supported, coordinated and supervised the delegation beforehand and afterwards. 

DC Meetups 

In 2020 the network established a new format, the DC-Network Meetups, to foster the exchange during the Covid-Pandemic and the tackle the current challenges. The DC meetups use digital meeting formats in order to bring together the DC-regions and to foster the creative exchange in an relaxed atmosphere. The first DC meetup was held in spring 2021 and was hosted by the Baden-Württemberg region. 

Creativity World Forum 2022 

In July, 21, 2022 the Creativity World Forum will take place in Baden-Württemberg. The flagship conference and showcase of the network will be part of the Start-up BW Summit will show inspiring best practices and innovative initiatives from Baden-Württemberg.
