European project RespiceSME
Support for Photonics Innovation Clusters enhancing SMEs Innovative Potential
RespiceSME developed ten hands-on tools for cluster managers and business consultants and supported the exchange of best practices among the European Photonics community. The innovation potential of several high-tech SMEs was audited within the project and different value chains in the environment, energy, transport and production industries were analysed. On this basis, RespiceSME identified novel business cooperation opportunities, boosting the global exploitation of photonics tech innovations. Finally, RespiceSME helped SMEs to develop novel market-ready applications and to penetrate new markets.
Steinbeis 2i GmbH (S2i) coordinated the project and developed and implemented the RespiceSME innovation audit methodology, the administrative and financial project management and the dissemination and exploitation of results. The ten project partners received 1.1 million EUR funding for the project from the European Commission.
In 2017 S2i and the RespiceSME partners organised several brokerage events for stakeholders of the photonics community at the international fairs ‘Laser World of Photonics’ and ‘IoT Solutions World Congress‘. Furthermore, S2i contributed greatly to the implementation of a video pitch contest for innovative applications and business ideas in the field of photonics.
