EU project H2GLASSHydrogen for the glass industry- Steinbeis makes project results visible
The glass industry is facing one of the biggest transformations in its history: on the path to climate neutrality, it must rethink energy-intensive processes and tap into alternative energy sources. This is exactly where H2GLASS comes in laying the foundations for the sustainable competitiveness of the glass industry. The European flagship project demonstrates how green hydrogen can significantly decarbonise the glass production process and accompanies it from technical development to real-world industrial application.
Twenty-two European partners from research, technology development and industry are working to develop innovative burner and furnace technologies, flexible energy integration and intelligent digital tools, and to demonstrate them with the help of six industrial partners from the glass and aluminium industries. The aim is to lay the foundations for sustainable, competitive glass production in Europe.
Steinbeis Europa Zentrum plays a central role in the project, leading communication, dissemination and exploitation to shape the transfer of project results in Europe. It ensures that technological advances are visible and applicable to companies, political stakeholders and the general public.
To this end, the Steinbeis team coordinates strategic communication measures, develops target group-specific formats and supports the partners in exploiting their results. For example, Steinbeis has designed and implemented a colouring book, colouring postcards and events for children. Audiovisual material in the form of six videos has been developed, with another six videos planned. The videos are aimed at different target groups, other EU projects, industry players interested in the technology and the general public.
From brand development to event and media relations to impact analyses, Steinbeis ensures that H2GLASS has an impact far beyond the project itself. With this powerful combination of technological innovation and European influence, H2GLASS is sending a clear message: the future of the glass industry must be sustainable, and hydrogen plays a key role in this.
