BRINOXMicrofinance for clean production
Small and medium-sized enterprises from the manufacturing sector were able to apply for funding of 50,000 euros through the KET4Cleanproduction project. The funding was granted for transnational cooperation projects between SMEs and two key technology centres from Europe. Eligible projects include the integration of advanced manufacturing and key enabling technologies that aim to develop clean production processes or improve existing processes by reducing costs, energy consumption, waste and pollutant emissions, and dependence on raw materials. SMEs can find the right centre via an online platform.
The Slovenian company Brinox emerged as one of the successful candidates from the first round of calls for proposals. The company works with the Josef Stefan Institute in Slovenia and Bay Zoltan in Hungary. Both centres are experts in surface analysis and corrosion resistance measurement.
Steinbeis Europa Zentrum coordinated the project, managed the calls for proposals within the framework of cascading funding, reviewed the application and commissioned external experts. SEZ was also responsible for quality control and disbursement of funds, maintained contact with the expert council and provided feedback to European innovation policy.
„"With the support of this funding, we want to develop and validate new methods with the help of the technology experts, describe them qualitatively and quantitatively and break new technological ground. Ultimately, the results should lead to a cost-efficient and environmentally friendly process technology that strengthens us for international competition."“
