European project SM-BIO POWER - Integrating small and medium sized biomedical engineering enterprises into the 7th Framework
The EU funded project SM-BIO-POWER aims at integrating small and medium sized enterprises (SME) in the European Union’s 7th Framework Programme (FP7) for research and technological development in the health domain. By offering a targeted and improved support measures, the access to research projects will be facilitated and the SMEs will be actively involved in research activities. The SM-BIO POWER project makes a new approach of supporting SMEs and their innovation projects in the biomedical engineering field by providing a unique combination of complementary resources and tools and excellent grounds for international best-practice and knowledge sharing.
The projects offers “awareness workshops” to train the SMEs and is supported by “specific interest groups” (SIGs) and an online forum. The SMEs receive a targeted coaching, with the technical support of the pan-European learning community for innovation trainers (PEER-Net). This community is a network for the transfer of international best practices and innovative consulting knowledge.
The project includes 10 participants from 6 countries, four of them are SMEs.
