Expert panels

Panels of experts are commonly used in national and regional Foresight studies. They usually comprise various types of actors such as policy-makers, entrepreneurs, academic researchers, venture capitalists to guarantee an interdisciplinary discussion on a common strategy for the future and concrete follow-up actions.

The participation of stakeholders from various disciplines brings new insights and different views into the process, fosters the creation of networks, and the diffusion of Foresight results to a broader range of actors. Furthermore, Panel work is significant in terms of acquiring strategic information and knowledge on the issues in question. In Foresight activities, the main task of a Panel is usually that of providing an input and comments on, e.g. existing strategic documents, research reports, outputs of scientific analyses, etc.
