Creativity techniques
Creativity techniques, such as brainstorming and mindmapping, help to elicit and structure in a transparent and effective way ideas from a group of people. These techniques foster creative handling of problems, conflicts and issues. They are based on the assumption that by providing the participants a chance to express freely their ideas, even the most unconventional or utopic ones, more and better results/solutions can be achieved.
The application of creativity techniques may elicit new ideas on how to tackle a particular problem. Under some conditions, creativity techniques may help to reduce conflicts: stoppages will be remedied and dissent opinions taken into account during discussions. Furthermore, they may help participants to consider other points of view and possibly change their perspectives on problems. In this way, broad approaches and solutions can be generated, which would probably not see the light if traditional approaches were applied.
