Future management in enterprises
Globalisation, acceleration of technological developments, individualisation, environmental problems, scarcity of resources and demographic change are only a few examples of developments and trends, which will in the future pose undreamed-of challenges for people, enterprises, regions and even whole continents. These developments particularly imply that enterprises need to rapidly adjust to changing framework conditions, if they wish to remain successful in the future.
The strategic future management in enterprises aims therefore primarily to develop pro-actively medium- to long-term oriented concepts, which would help enterprises detect in due time and leverage opportunities, innovations and market perspectives for growth. For this purpose, an internal strategy process is developed, which is based on a close cooperation of all relevant persons from the enterprise. This strategy process can contain different components, e.g. a series of workshops during which, the knowledge internal to the enterprise will be supplemented with additional external information on relevant global trends. On this basis, important future developments can be identified and their impacts on the company can be assessed.
The result of such a strategy process is the development of a forward-looking vision for the enterprise as well as of recommendations and concrete guidelines on how to implement the vision, e.g. in the form of individual roadmaps for particular topics/fields of action. The purpose of such roadmaps is to display how research, technological development, products and services of the future could look like, how one can take influence on their development, and which external factors have an impact on them.
